Last week I attended the Annual Meeting of the British Mycological Society to give a talk about my work. Being used to a scientific community focusing on aquatic ecology, this meeting was a great opportunity to interact with great scientists interested in fungi from completely different perspectives. It was a very estimulating and inspiring conference. This reminds of the importance of attending new conferences, which are not necessarily directly related to my research. It provides new ideas, perspectives and whole new set of networking connections. Thanks to the BMS, Prof. Pieter van West and Dr. Duncan Wilson for the kind invitation !
